Utilising technology to reduce trade waste
In 2013 I took part in the RSA student competition briefs. I selected the brief entitled 'Change Makers', the scope of which was to create a design solution that persuades people to consume less, reduce waste and to be more efficient with the planets resources.
At the time my parents were undergoing some building works at their house in Bath where I observed the practice of over ordering materials by 5-10% in order to account for any mishaps.
The design
Build+ is an app that provides a platform for builders to locate, buy & sell surplus materials in their local area. Users can post materials for sale using the built-in image capture feature. They can trade, sell and purchase surplus materials within a local proximity and locate local traders using GPS and use the app as a secure platform to arrange pick ups.
